CLARENCE, N.Y. (WIVB) - Two alleged drunk drivers are charged in a bizarre property damage car accident on Salt Road, in Clarence.
State Police say 20-year-old William T. Timmons was driving south on Salt Road when his vehicle struck a tree on the shoulder of the road. According to police, Timmons contacted 21-year-old Karl E. Struebel, to help him remove his vehicle from the accident scene.
When police arrived on the scene, troopers saw Struebel’s vehicle towing Timmons’ badly damaged vehicle. Police say both men, from Clarence, were drunk.
Police say Struebel recorded a .13 percent BAC, and was charged with DWI and driving left of pavement markings. Timmons, police say, had a .18 percent BAC and was charged with aggravated DWI, failure to keep right, leaving the scene of an accident and other vehicle and traffic charges.
A third Clarence man was also involved in the accident. Twenty-year-old Carl F. Jenkins was in Timmons’ vehicle while it was being towed, and was arrested for unlawful possession of marijuana. He allegedly had a metal pipe with marijuana residue inside.
All three men will appear in Town of Clarence Court at later dates.
