Motorists stranded due to conditions

DUNKIRK, N.Y. (WIVB) - Stranded driver Jay from Ransomville shared his story live on Wake Up Friday morning.

Jay and his wife had been trying to reach their son's graduation in Chicago, and ended up trapped from 11:30 Thursday night until around 7 a.m. Friday.

The couple ran the car five minutes at a time to keep warm.

Jay said the only food he and his wife had all night was a cookie they found in their car. Listen to Jay's interview by watching the attached video.

Chautauqua County Executive Greg Edwards joined News 4's Wake Up live with details on how they are helping stranded motorists. Watch video for more.

State Police Captain Michael Nigrelli spoke with News 4's Wake Up Friday morning. He shared a phone number for people on the Thruway to call if they have a true medical emergency. The number for medical emergencies is 836-0240.
