Nearly one year after the tragedy that claimed 50 lives in Clarence Center, federal investigators blame pilot error. The NTSB says complacency and critical failures by the pilots of Flight 3407 led to catastrophe.

>>>Analysis of the NTSB report show pilot confusion was major cause

In Washington, investigators say weather did not cause the crash, but rather, Captain Marvin Renslow became startled and confused when the plane's stick shaker activated. Investigators also pointed out critical errors in the final seconds of flight, saying Captain Renslow did the exact opposite of what he should have done to recover from a stall.

The hearing also cited unnecessary cockpit conversation and cell phone use. Colgan Air's pilot training is being questioned along with the FAA's response to safety recommendations.
