BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - It's one of the queen city's most picturesque neighborhoods. Parkside residents had plenty to show off Sunday on their popular annual garden tour.
The 13th annual Parkside Garden Tour featured everything from ornate flowers and shrubbery, to unique garden décor, like this bike and bridge leading over a Coy pond. Buffalo may have adopted a reputation for its harsh winters, but it doesn't stop these avid gardeners from transforming their property into this elaborate work of art.
Faith Burgard said, "I love to see what other people do in their gardens."
On Crescent Avenue, we took a step back in time at this Victorian-themed home and garden. Patricia Lang took us for a personalized tour.
Lan explained, "It's been a work in progress, do a little bit of this. I call it therapy. There is some work to it. Maintaining it. I would say two to three hours per day."
Just up the street was Sheila Rovners garden. She got into gardening after watching her parents, and has a few tips for those who are looking to get into it, too.
"Don't place bushes too close together, pay attention to putting trees in at the beginning instead of ignoring that part. Talk to people at the nurseries," advised Rovners.
Besides learning from each other, beginners, and even the avid gardeners, can get ideas from these garden walks, and Lang says she sees many of the same faces every year and loves it.
