LANCASTER, N.Y. (WIVB) - State Police believe a driver involved in a one-vehicle accident Tuesday evening was the victim of a fatal pedestrian accident that occurred about an hour and a half later.
Police say they responded to a one-vehicle crash on I-90 in Lancaster at 6:40 p.m. Tuesday. Police say the driver walked away from the scene, and police searched the area attempting to locate the driver.
At 8:06 p.m. a tractor trailer was traveling east on I-90 when it struck and killed a pedestrian that had entered the driving lane. Police believe the pedestrian is the driver from the earlier accident.
The tractor trailer driver, a 43-year-old man from Quebec, was not injured and is not facing any charges.
The accident left eastbound lanes of I-90 closed until 1:20 a.m. for accident investigation and reconstruction.
Police have not yet released the name of the victim.
