CONCORD, N.Y. (WIVB) - A State Trooper called it the worst accident he's ever seen.

The driver of a pickup truck died after he was hit broadside by a large semi, in the Town of Concord.

"Tractor trailer pushed both vehicles through the intersection, across the street, into a telephone phone pole, and severed many wires," said Sgt. Kevin Streety, New York State Police.

State Police say, Tuesday night, the driver of a tractor trailer blew through a stop sign at the intersection of Springville-Boston and Genesee Roads, in the Town of Concord.

In the mangled aftermath, State Police say they found the body of 33-year-old Joseph Nebrich.

Investigators say he lived in the Village of Cattaraugus and was on his way home from work.

Nebrich was driving a red pickup truck that had another pickup truck attached to his at the time of the crash.

Authorities tell News 4, the man driving the tractor trailer, amazingly walked away without any injuries.

Now, police are trying to figure out why he didn't stop.

"It's unknown if the driver is familiar with the intersection he is coming down a slight incline and obviously he would be picking up speed," said Streety.

In the daylight, you could see how Genesee Road steeps down before the stop sign.

Whether the driver saw the sign and failed to stop, or didn't see, it all is still unclear.

"There's still so much more of what he have to do. We have to do accident reconstruction, find out how fast each vehicle was going and that could take some time," said John Wolf, Special Investigator, Town of Boston State Police.
