DEPEW, N.Y. (WIVB) - The President made an unscheduled stop on his visit to Buffalo, picking up lunch at Duff's.
Duff's on Sheridan in Amherst had gotten a heads-up on Sunday, but no one expected the President to come to the Duff's on Dick Road in Depew.
The President was relaxed as he made his way into the restaurant. He greeted people, posed for pictures, and even kissed a baby. People found him to be taller than they expected and were surprised to see him.
Mary DiGiacomo was the lucky waitress to take the President's order. Mary said, "Oh, I was a nervous wreck. I never shook so bad taking an order in all my life. Ten wings, medium, onion rings, and fries."
Duff's Manager Kaitlyn Feather said, "We weren't expecting it and we were totally crazy for lunch and he walks in the door and somebody yells, "President Obama's here!" And everyone starts clapping."
The President even took out his wallet and paid for lunch, he wouldn't let it be on the house. A co-owner of Duff's tells News 4 that the President absolutely insisted.
