Program to manage medical insurance

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WIVB) - Syracuse University will lead the development of a new program to manage out-of-network medical insurance coverage for tens of millions of Americans.

The program results from a reform initiative led by New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo.

The new system would replace the current insurance industry run system which often leaves patients with inadequate coverage for necessary medical procedures.

The American Medical Association has endorsed the reform.
