Relay for Life draws large crowd

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Western New Yorkers are walking together, raising money for a cure for cancer.

The American Cancer Society is holding its Annual Relay for Life at several sites across the area.

Proceeds support the society's mission to find cures and help people stay well.

Many participants know people who have died from cancer, or survived it.

West Seneca Event Chairwoman, Shirley Misechok said, "I lost my dad, my sister, my older sister, my mother-in-law, my brother-in-law, aunts, uncles, my best girlfriend died one year of acute leukemia that was never diagnosed. It broke my heart."

This is the second of three weekends for the Relay for Life.

So far it's raised over $400,000
