BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Parts of the western New York got plastered with snow, but the lake effect snow and west winds kept snow from hitting the northtowns overnight and Friday morning.
Springville resident Charles Cranston said, “It started Thursday morning, early morning, about seven. Thursday morning it was green, green grass.”
But now, snow covers the roadways in Springville, and snow banks are piling up. Many of the snow banks are a couple feet high.

Because of the steady snowfall, clearing sidewalks and roadways has been an ongoing task. Cranston says he and his wife teamed up to clear their driveway.
The snow isn’t slowing down the people in Springville. One woman says running on snowy sidewalks is no problem.
Springville resident Heather Sopko said, “No bad. I mean, I can see. I just keep my face covered and I’m good.”
“The village workers in Springville are awesome and they keep the sidewalks clean, and I’m still running on them.”
Not all parts of western New York were impacted by the snow. Plow Driver Mike Spagnola said, “It looks like most of the snow is here in Springville.”
Just 20 miles outside of Springville Friday morning, it wasn’t snowing. Some people are happy about the weather conditions, others are not.
Glenwood resident Sunny Wittmeyer said, “The last two storms have been more like an old fashioned winter.”
The skies look clear in Buffalo Friday afternoon, but it will all change Friday night. The winds will shift to northern winds, and the area should get some lake effect snow. It looks like residents could be shoveling themselves out over the weekend.
For those in need of a hot meal and a warm place to sleep, a code blue is in effect through Sunday.
