State threatens to close Batavia Downs

BATAVIA, N.Y. (WIVB) - New York State has served notice to Batavia Downs: "Show us how you'll shape things up, or we're shutting down the slot machines".

The lottery is threatening to turn off the VLT facility because Western Regional OTB isn't running the place to the state's satisfaction.

The board has scheduled a special meeting next week.

The lottery wants an improvement plan by March 1st.
