About 600 people signed up for the event.
They started to arrive Thursday morning and came from all over the country.
The Holiday Inn on Grand Island is closed for regular business.
But, it is open to the 300 couples who are taking part in a Swingers Convention.
The event continued to draw some strong opinions locally.
Carolyn Nowocien, a Grand Island Resident said, "I think everyone is making a big deal out of nothing. I think let 'em have fun."
Charles Derringer said, "I think it shouldn't be done that way))
The theme of the event is "Entice the Falls" and it's now underway, one day after organizers agreed to delete a body painting session and club erotica dance party from the schedule, in response to objections raised by town officials.
No one inside the hotel wanted to talk publically.
In fact News 4 was told to stay off the property and keep cameras away, to protect the identities of those taking part.
Hotel managers stand by their decision to welcome in any group that is legal.
Supporters said hosting the event made smart business sense.
Marlene Moore explained, "If they go to restaurants and promote business. What's bad with that?"
Clearly, it's a delicate subject.
"I try not to think about it. Keep to myself," said Becky Smith from Grand Island.
But whether you like it or not, swingers are on the island through Sunday.
No children will be allowed on the hotel grounds for the weekend.
And only employees, 18 years of age and older will be allowed to work for the weekend.
