BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Police officers have to make split second decisions when confronted with life threatening situations. To better prepare officers, the NFTA Transit police are using what looks like a big screen video game.
It's actually a very sophisticated computer-driven firearms simulator. Officers are placed in shoot-don't shoot situations.
Every shot and movement of their weapon are tracked and used to critique.
John Yuhnke, NFTA police instructor said, "We want to train realistically under stress. Give them some stress in there just to see how their body's going to react. Everybody does everything different under stress so. And when this stuff happens on the street you're going to be very stressed out."
Investigative Reporter Luke Moretti will have the latest Thursday night at 11.
