He lost his life aboard Flight 3407 but friends and family are taking steps to make sure David Borner's legacy is never forgotten.
And they're off.
250 runners and walkers, all out to support the Borner family.
David's wife, Cheryl said, "We've got soccer, we've got boyscouts, we've got family, we've got friends."
David Borner was one of the 50 victims whose life was cut tragically short when Flight 3407 crashed on a house in Clarence Center back in February.
On Saturday, his family, friends and supporters were out paying tribute to him and raising money for a scholarship in his name.
"We're looking for not just academics or athletics, we're looking for those who are involved in the community," explained Race Director, Phil Basinski.
That's because Dave himself was very involved in the community.
He was also described as a wonderful husband and father who had a great sense of humor and just liked to have a good time.
"My dad was not only my father but he was my best friend. I could talk to him about anything," daughter, Nicole Borner exclaimed.
About $8,000 to $10,000 dollars was raised on Saturday and will be awarded to two Starpoint High School students.
Cheryl was grateful for the outpouring of support and generosity in memory of her husband.
And cheered each and everyone across the finish line.
