BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Buffalo's burgeoning life sciences industry is hanging out the 'help wanted' signs, and you don't have to be a research scientists to apply.
You might be surprised to hear western New York is home to more than 120 life science companies and many of them are hiring.
And that's right, you don't need an advanced degree to land one of those jobs.
UB is launching a program called iSci WNY, which teaches adults who are looking for a new career, and students as well, about the various career paths in the life sciences industry. Jobs like business development, human resources, marketing, manufacturing and maintenance.

iSci Western New York uses free workshops, training programs, and a web site to get local jobseekers on the path to a new career.
"Through our two hour orientation and introductory program, and the five-week preparatory program, it reaches to a whole community. The high school student looking to start a career. The unemployed machinist who would like to get back into manufacturing, as well as the mid-level professional who's looking for a career change," said Dr. Sherryl Weems, iSciWNY co-developer.
