Western New Yorkers bowl for kids' sake

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Many western New Yorkers laced up their bowling shoes for a great cause.

Voelker's lanes in Buffalo hosted Bowl for Kids' Sake.

It's a benefit for Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Erie County.

Employees of area businesses and volunteer mentors teamed up to raise money for the organization's mentoring programs.

"This is our 24th annual, it's our third largest event that we do during the year. It makes a large impact. The proceeds of this event will probably match upwards of 20 kids with adult mentors during the calendar year," said Thomas Guagliardo, of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Erie County.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Erie County has been pairing youths and mentors for almost 40 years.
