JAMESTOWN, N.Y. (WIVB) - Jamestown Police are searching for answers in the death of a two-year-old boy.

The child's father has been taken into police custody on an unrelated charged.

A 911 call reported a young boy unresponsive and not breathing Friday afternoon.

First responders took two-year-old Auston Morales to WCA hospital, where he was quickly transferred to Women and Children's in Buffalo.

The little boy was pronounced dead Saturday night.

"There were some things that were obvious," said Chief Rexford Rater, of the Jamestown Police Department.

Rater says, there's no question this is a suspicious death.

"Now we're interviewing people, to see if we can't relate that to the injuries the boy had and how they resulted in this tragic event, of his eventual death," said Rater.

The boys father, 31-year-old Augustin Morales of Jamestown, was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant that charged him with endangering the welfare of a child. It's unrelated to this incident.

Authorities are trying to find out how the boy died before filing any charges in this case. Morales was at home with the boy at the time, although investigators say that little Auston lived on Falconer street in Jamestown.

The Chautauqua County District Attorney says, there was at least one infant at the home as well.

Morales is father to 11 children, it's unclear how many lived at this West Eighth Street home with him.

The district attorney tells News 4 that he should know the cause of death within the next 24 hours.

Augustin Morales remains behind bars in the Chautauqua County jail.
