The semi left United Refinery in Warren, Pennsylvania with 7,500 gallons of diesel fuel early Monday morning. At 6:30 a.m., the truck was about two miles south of the Route 62 and Route 60 junction, when the semi lost control and went over a steep embankment.
Police say the driver lost control on slush-covered roads. The DEC was called to the scene, but though there was over 7,000 gallons of fuel in the tanker, only five gallons spilled. The tanker's four separate compartments did not leak.
The driver, 46-year-old William Fisher of Erie, PA, suffered minor injuries, including lacerations and neck/back pain. He was taken to WCA Hospital.
The roadway was closed from the time of the accident until 12 hours later. It re-opened around 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
Police say no charges have been filed at this time and their investigation continues.
