BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - More than 1,400 school administrators gathered at UB Friday, talking about school safety. This is the 10th Safe School Summit. Leaders there pointed out since it’s only been three months since the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary in Connecticut, it comes at a poignant moment in our nation’s history.
US Attorney William Hochul said, “What today’s participants are going to hear today is that school violence is a relatively new phenomenon, but it is happening with increasing frequency, also while we spend millions of dollars on fire prevention, few if any are spent on violence prevention.”
Hochul says there are things that can be done to detect, deter and defeat school violence. Friday’s seminar presented administrators with stats and tips for prevention of violence in school.
