ALBANY, N.Y. (WIVB) - A proposed law, created in honor of an Amherst teenager, has taken a step forward.
The State Senate has passed "Alix's Law," named for Alexandria Rice. The law would hold drunk drivers accountable for leaving the scene of an accident. The bill now heads to the Assembly.
Rice was struck and killed last summer on Heim Road. Dr. James Corasanti was charged in the case. Corasanti claimed he didn't know he hit a person and was recently found not guilty of all felony charges.
