BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Amherst Police say they arrested an alleged handyman, who is accused of defrauding an elderly victim out of a substantial amount of money.

Police say 52-year-old Michael Amati, of Buffalo, targeted an elderly man from Amherst and claimed to do substantial repairs to his residence which were not done, but he had received payment for.

Police say Amati claimed to obtain work permits for the repairs which were not obtained, but were charged to the victim.

Amati is charged with third-degree grand larceny and three counts of fourth-degree grand larceny.
