Authorities tell News 4 the reported incident took place late Sunday morning on West Road in the Town of Leon in Cattaraugus County.

In Amish country where life is simple and quiet. Crime is a rare event. However, there was a call for help.

Sgt. Clark Parry of the Cattaraugus County Sheriff's office said,"We received a complaint of an attempted armed robbery on West Road in the Town of Leon. A patrol responded. To this point we have not been able to locate any suspects."

Investigators are not commenting on reports that a shot was fired or that the victim was driving a buggy. Initial reports indicated the buggy operator was approached by someone who was in a car. The victims stated that a group of males in a car stopped and displayed a hand gun and demanded money.  When the victims did not have any money. the suspects fled.

Sgt.Parry added, "We've had our patrols in the area and the surrounding areas."

While authorities aren't saying much, they tell News 4 no one was injured in this morning's incident.
