BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - The Buffalo Zoo is asking the community to help save the polar bear exhibit, and they’re getting a little help from their newest furry friend. The baby polar bear, nicknamed “Luna”, is now calling Buffalo home.
The Bear Necessities Campaign was launched Friday. It raises money for the zoo’s new arctic edge exhibit, which houses the polar bears and other arctic species. Friday the campaign opens up to the public and there are plenty of ways you can give.
Buffalo Zoo Director Donna Fernandes said, "We have plans of little polar bear banks we can send to school children to collect change for us. As I said, you can text ZOO BEAR to 56512, you can go on our website to buffalozoo.org .”
The campaign has raised $14 million of the $18 million needed. The campaign runs through May.
