BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - The chilly temperatures couldn't stop a backyard charity hockey tournament.
Skaters laced up and hit the ice for the three vs. three backyard hockey classic in East Amherst.
The event was started two years ago by Nick Penberthy who uses the tournament to help buy new equipment for Hasek's Heroes.
Penberthy said, "It's an organization out of Riverside ice rink that that allows children of low income families to get to experience the game of hockey that they otherwise would not be able to."
Organizers hope to raise more than $4,000 this year.
