BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Some less fortunate women and children are getting the help they need thanks to a new event held in 5-year-old Isabelle Tennant's honor.
It's something Bella wanted to do, before her promising life came to a sudden end.
In sharing with us memories of her little girl taken away much too soon, Crystal Walker emphasizes how thoughtful and giving her daughter was.
"She would always ask people for money and kept a little piggy bank in her room; said she wanted to give to kids," says Walker.
The 5 year old was generous beyond her years.
"The one day I went in her room and was just getting old clothes. She was like what are you doing those are my clothes. And I explained we are taking them to Goodwill for people who need clothes. Once I explained it to her, I think it affected her and she's like okay, I want to help you mom," Walker tells News 4.
One thing Bella always wanted to do was open a lemonade stand to raise money for kids in need. Walker regrets putting it off.
With the help of others in the community, they opened a lemonade stand at Gratwick in honor of Bella.
The proceeds went to the Women and Children's Shelter where they also accepted donations such as clothing, diapers, and school supplies.
Walker says," I know she would be happy. She always said she wanted to help out kids in need. I hope she was watching today, and is smiling."
She now hopes that the memory of Bella will inspire others to make sure that giving spirit lives on.
