LACKAWANNA, N.Y. (WIVB) - The Buffalo Bills are on a bye-week, but that doesn't mean the team isn't keeping busy. Several players were in Lackawanna Tuesday to make some children's dreams come true.
The Bills teamed up with several community groups to build a playground at Our Lady of Victory School. The playground was designed by the students back in September and it was completed in conjunction with the NFL-United Way Hometown Huddle, a day of service designed to bring awareness on how important it is for children to get fit and have a healthy lifestyle.
Bills safety George Wilson said, "Obviously, we've got some amateurs putting this together, but I'm sure the professionals are going to come in and check every nut and bolt make sure everything is up to safety standards and the playground will be ready to go."
Bills Hall of Famer Thurman Thomas added, "This is actually good work, too. It's good for the soul, know you're helping out the community, helping out some kids to be able to come out here with their parents and be on the playground."
More than 70 players pitched in as work began at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday morning to build the playground.
