BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Buffalo’s new bishop will be installed at a mass this Friday afternoon. He is a bishop who loves to communicate ideas and talk about issues. He was once a chaplain at Harvard.
News 4 was with Bishop Richard Malone, viewing a wonderful mural at the Catholic Center painted by Father Tom Ribits. The mural shows the diversity and expanse of the Buffalo Diocese. Bishop Malone comes to Buffalo from the Diocese of Portland, Maine, where he also went through the painful process of consolidating churches and parishes, and dealing with some of the same economic issues as Buffalo. He is looking forward to his installation as Buffalo’s 14th bishop on Friday.
Malone said, “I have a lot of learning to do, not just about the Catholic community in this diocese of Buffalo, but about the wider population of western New York. I have lots of learning to do and that’s priority number one, but I’m excited.”
We invite you to join us this Friday for News 4’s Special Coverage of the installation mass of Richard Malone, the 14th Catholic Bishop of Buffalo. WIVB.com will be streaming the mass live beginning at 2:30 p.m. Friday.
