BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - It's a chance for Sabres fans to give back to their community, and help save a life in the process.

The Buffalo Sabres are teaming up with Unyts, for a blood drive Monday, at the First Niagara Center. Some of the Sabres alumni were on hand, signing autographs and taking pictures with attendees. They can’t stress enough, the importance of giving blood locally.

“The big thing is the fact that it's important, for not only giving the blood, but letting it stay locally here, and I think that's so so important, cause that's one of the things that Unyts looks forward to and helping local hospitals,” said Danny Gare, of the Sabres Alumni Association.

The drive goes until 5 p.m. Monday and the first 200 people to donate, receive a special “Donate Life” Sabres hat, from New Era.
