AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) - A controversial hotel neighbors were trying to fight in Amherst has been given the green light. It was a by a narrow margin and after a marathon session Tuesday night at the Amherst Zoning Board of Appeals.

The meeting didn’t end until well after midnight, but the board approved all nine of Iskalo  Development’s requests, including to raise the building height limit, passing three to two.

The idea now needs final approval from the planning board. That meeting is March 21st.

The $15 million, 137-room Hyatt Place would go up behind the Lord Amherst Hotel on Main Street.
