BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Buffalo Police Homicide Detectives are awaiting autopsy results after the body of a 30 year old, Emery J. Harris, was found near the Niagara River at the foot of Austin Street this afternoon.

Detectives were called to the scene just after 3pm Saturday afternoon.

At this time, Police say the incident does not appear to be suspicious in nature. Authorities believe the individual accidentally may have driven into the water.

Detectives believe the incident may have happened sometime in the overnight hours and his body was discovered Saturday afternoon.

It appears the individual errantly drove into the water at the foot of Austin but was able to get out of his vehicle.

He was found in the vicinity and was declared dead at the scene.

The Buffalo Police Underwater Recovery Team was also called to the scene this afternoon and they were able to pull his partially submerged van from the Niagara River.

Buffalo firefighters also assisted.

At this time the individual's name is not being released pending an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
