BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Students from Buffalo State College are going to Washington today to attend the Inauguration.
News 4 caught up with some of the students Sunday night as they were getting ready for the big trip.
This election was the first many of the students were able to vote in making this trip quite memorable.
Political Science major Muhammed Sumbundu came up with the idea for the trip to the Nation’s Capitol.
He was able to get the Associate Vice President for Campus Life to cover the hefty $6,000 bill for the 48 students and 8 faculty members to attend.
Sumbundu said, “Actually being able to vote made me feel really good as a person and what I want to do with my career. Just seeing an African American male for me is inspiring.”
After finishing up the trip Monday morning, they will spend the day in D.C. and then turn the bus around and come right back home.
It is a short trip but the students say it’s all worth getting to see history happen.
