BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Two women have been charged with starting a fire that damaged two homes on Wood Avenue in Buffalo.
Around midnight on Sunday, flames broke out at 73 Wood, a vacant home, and spread to 75 Wood, an occupied one. Police and fire crews helped residents flee 75 Wood.
Two hours after flames were extinguished, firefighters were called back when the fire rekindled at 73 Wood.
Now, Buffalo Police have charged 50-year-old Sandra Rivera and 18-year-old Kateland Truitt, charging both with first degree arson, criminal mischief and reckless endangerment. Though they are charged with starting the first fire, it is unclear if the women had any role in the second fire at 73 Wood.
No one was injured. Combined damage to both homes is estimated at $60,000.
