BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - In less than six months, sixty-eight-year-old Karen Klein has gone from bullied school bus aide to anti-bullying ambassador.
A lot has changed in Klein's life, since a YouTube video of Greece Middle School students taunting and swearing at her went viral in June. She has started the Karen Klein Anti-Bullying Foundation, and is traveling across the United States with her "No Bully Tour."
Find out how the "No Bully Tour" began.
Saturday night, that tour made a stop at the Tralf Music Hall in downtown Buffalo.
"I'm hoping to have kids be nice to each other. That's really, basically, all," said Klein, when asked what the goal of the tour is. "Kids to be nice to each other, and find out why the ones who aren't nice, aren't nice. You know? They need help too."
Klein has received letters, and been approached by hundreds of people, young and old, who've been inspired by her story, and now want to share their own bullying experiences with her.
"People that I've heard from, they're wonderful. Wonderful people that I've met," Klein said.
One example she gave was a letter she received just recently, from a high school teacher.
"One of her students... she's a senior. She wants to do an article, or a test, an exam with certain questions... And this one's about anti-bullying," Klein explained. "So she sent me a letter, asking if I'd be interested in helping her out."
Klein's "No Bully Tour" is specifically geared toward school-age children. Her foundation has released a CD with anti-bullying songs and messages, and is promoting picture books with stories that teach lessons about bullying. She'd like to get these materials into the classrooms and libraries of schools everywhere.

And she has a special message to anyone coping with bullies: "Don't let anyone bully you. Be strong. Don't step back, move forward."
