CLARENCE, N.Y. (WIVB) - Early Saturday morning, fire crews arrived to the scene where a car drove into Vacuum Mart located on 8623 Main Street in Clarence.
Firefighters on the scene told News 4 that the driver was trying to back away from the building, but stepped on the gas instead of the break.
The car smashed into a support column where crews then had to see if the building was safe.
Nick Radlish from the Harris Hill Volunteer Fire Company says, "We evacuated the consignment shop, and the insurance company next door as well, shut off the power and the gas to those to make sure everyone was safe, above the ceiling tiles we don't know the extents of damage up there. Once we get the car out of the way, we'll be able to get up, pop some ceiling tiles and see if there's any structural damage continuing on to those next doors."
Two people were in the car; one was sent to the hospital with dizziness.
