BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Some young students had a frightening ride to school on Wednesday when a car smashed into their school bus in a South Buffalo neighborhood.
Shortly after 8 a.m., the car and bus collided on McKinley Parkway and Cantwell Drive.
Buffalo Police Spokesman Mike DeGeorge says a compact car was traveling east on McKinley Parkway when it hit the school bus. The driver, who is 51 years old, was injured. None of the passengers on the bus were harmed.

People in the area heard the crash and describe the woman driving the car as alert as an ambulance transported her to the hospital.
Witnesses to the scene said the school bus was mainly empty, with only about a half a dozen kids inside. The kids were put on another bus to take them to school.
“Me and my wife were in the front room and just heard a loud thud and came out and looked, and saw the car laying on the lawn and then the school bus go by.” McKinley Parkway resident Tom Mattingly said, “Her main concern was she saw the side of the bus and wanted to make sure the kids were okay on the bus so she ran right up to check on the driver and the kids.”
DeGeorge could not elaborate further on the the injury of the driver of the car.
