BATAVIA, N.Y. (WIVB) - Batavia Police are investigating an incident involving a car that crashed into a home around 5:20 Saturday morning.
Upon further investigation, it appears the driver, Corey Goff of Rochester was traveling at a high rate of speed when it entered a roundabout near the home and left the roadway.
The vehicle struck street signs, and a lamp post before crashing the front of a home on Main Street in Batavia.
The worst of the damage was a gas meter being destroyed; the house sustained some damage.
Chris Hutchinson was home with his wife and two small children when the vehicle struck the house. He tells News 4 that the vehicle stopped just feet from one of his children's beds. "His bed is literally five feet from that wall [that the vehicle hit]. The wall is cracked along the baseboard. My biggest fear is, what if he hadn't hit the street signs? What if he didn't hit that street pole and what's there to slow him down?"
The driver was taken into custody and faces multiple charges including: DWI, Refusal to take a breath test, Speed not reasonable and prudent, Unreasonable speed/special hazards (roundabout), Reckless driving, and 2 counts of Fail to keep right.
