HAMBURG, N.Y. (WIVB) - A van crashed into a Hamburg home’s garage at Old Camp Road and Durham Road, around 3 a.m. Thursday. There was significant damage to that van and a car in the driveway but no one inside the home was injured.

The homeowner, Kevin Coyle, says the van damaged some nearby street signs, a rental car parked in his driveway, and ended up smashing into his detached garage.

Town of Hamburg Police report that shortly before the crash they attempted to stop a 2007 Dodge Caravan on Lakeshore Road, which did not have it's headlights on.  Officers say the vehicle fled, and then lost control and crashed into Coyle's garage on Durham Road.

>> Coyle's neighbor, Kevin Josker, took pictures of the crash. You can see those pictures here!

The three people inside the vehicle ran from the scene through Coyle's lawn.  The three managed to get into a cab, but police spotted a slow-moving taxi, stopped it, and arrested the suspects around 4 a.m.

The loud accident woke up nearby residents.  Coyle's Neighbor Sharon Josker said, "I just heard this loud crash and I jumped up and this was crazy, I saw the stop sign way up in the tree. The neighbor’s car, that looked like a brand new car before, is all smashed in the back."

The van was allegedly stole from Buffalo, early Thursday morning.  Police say the investigation is ongoing and the suspects’ identities have yet to be confirmed.

In the past six months or so, there have been many instances of cars slamming into buildings. You can see past stories on those crashes, as well as a photo gallery of each crash, here.
