ALABAMA, N.Y. (WIVB) - A 21-year-old man is facing charges in two counties, after an alleged DWI incident on Sunday morning.
The Orleans County Sheriff’s Office says Brandon M. Sponaugle was driving on Route 63 in the Town of Alabama, in Genesee County, early Sunday morning. The sheriff’s office says his car crossed the center line and ran off the side of the highway. The vehicle allegedly struck a mailbox, a concrete post, a tree stump and a bridge structure, before continuing into Orleans County.
The sheriff’s office says Sponaugle abandoned the car in Shelby Center, when it became disabled. He was located in a roadway a short time later.
According to the sheriff’s office, Sponaugle was charged with DWI and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation. Additional charges are pending blood test results. He is also facing charges in Genesee County.
