The Chautauqua County Nursing Home will continue to be run by the county following a vote Wednesday night by the Chautauqua County Legislature.
The lawmakers voted 16 to 9 in favor of selling the home, but failed to muster the necessary number needed for a supermajority.
A local law requires a two-thirds majority vote to sell property owned by the county.
The Dunkirk Observer reported that the county executive, Greg Edwards, said the nursing home is reportedly losing $9,000 a day.
The facility has a potential buyer in William Rothner of Altitude Health Services.
County Executive Edwards said he continue to search for a different buyer for the County Home which is located in Dunkirk.
