CLARENCE, N.Y. (WIVB) - The Town of Clarence is paving the way for a new investment. The Clarence Industrial Development Agency has approved a tax break for a new Towne Automotive Dealership.
State Assemblyman Sean Ryan opposed the tax break, arguing the IDA program should be reformed to help smaller start-up businesses. Towne Automotive says the investment will be a smart move for Clarence.
“We’re not going and asking, can you give us $80,000. We’re saying, we’ll make this investment and that’s the assistance we’re getting to go do it. There’s zero sales tax revenue generated if we don’t do the project,” said President of Towne Automotive Group Frank Downey.
Towne Automotive also says the new dealership will create more jobs.
