ALBION, N.Y. (WIVB) - There is good news for boaters who use the Erie Canal.
The section of canal that had been closed for the past two weeks between Medina and Holley is expected to reopen Thursday.
A section of canal embankment developed a large sink hole and construction crews were called in to stabilize the canal walls. Construction crews on Monday said work was about 80 percent complete in the area along Albion-Eagle Harbor Road.
The Canal Corporation planned to start refilling a 10-mile stretch of the canal on Tuesday, the section between Medina and Albion.
