TORONTO, ONT. (WIVB) - The Canadian media is reporting that the decision by the Canadian government to close the Canadian Consulate in Buffalo earlier this year has produced costly problems for thousands of Canadian citizens.
The closing of the main operation of the consulate, which was headquartered in the HSBC tower is producing costly visa problems.
The National Post reports that some 10,000 files were moved to Ottawa, creating delays for international students and foreign workers. Many have to pay more to obtain the necessary medical testing.
Canadian officials hope to have the backlog solved by next summer.
