BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - A construction project has dragged on for months at MLK Park. Thursday, it appears crews are putting the finishing touches on the entrance way to the splash pad. Everything should be finished by next week.
Chairman of Coalition of Save MLK Park Samuel Herbert said, “If it wasn’t for the media, I wouldn’t have been able to apply the pressure on these folks to make sure this was done right.”
Herbert said, “What we have here is a new comprehensive water feature. In the fall it’s going to be a reflecting pond, in the winter months it’s going to be ice skating.”
When the expanded splash pad is open in the summer, it can hold up to 1,500 people instead of 300.
