LEROY, N.Y. (WIVB) - Two Genesee County men are facing felony charges after allegedly stealing copper wire from a Leroy business, causing major damage. The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office says 28-year-old Michael A. Nicometo and 22-year-old Jonathan D. Smoak stole large quantities of copper wire from Dolomite, on Gulf Road.

The suspects allegedly cut the wire and removed it from an existing electrical system in the facility. The theft caused extensive damage to the electrical system, with damages estimated at over $32,000.

Nicometo and Smoak are facing burglary, criminal mischief and grand larceny charges. Nicomete was arrested Wednesday and was arraigned in Leroy Town Court. He was committed to Genesee County Jail on $10,000 bail. He is due in court in May.

Smoak was arrested Thursday and was arraigned in Leroy Town Court. He was released and is due back in court in the beginning of April.
