POMFRET, N.Y. (WIVB) - The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office says they have recovered a stolen urn, that was taken during a burglary on Van Buren Road in April.
During the burglary in the Town of Pomfet, an urn designed as a dolphin, containing the ashes of a woman’s husband, was stolen. After an extensive investigation during April, the urn was not located.
On Thursday, the woman was leaving her home and found that the urn was returned to her, placed on her porch. The urn was intact with only a small chip on the bottom and few scratches inside. Police say they do not know why the urn was returned, but they say they are glad the woman has it back in her possession.
