BUFFALO, NY (WIVB) - A car crashing into the front of the Delavan Canisius College Metro Railway Station around 3:30 a.m. Saturday morning caused the station to close down.

While driving on West Delevan Street, Ashley McNeal, 22, of Buffalo was proceeding to make a left hand turn onto Main Street when she was struck on the front, left side by another vehicle.

McNeal's vehicle spun to the right before coming to a rest on the sidewalk in front of the station.

Her vehicle was struck by a car driven by Roman Dunnigan, 33, of Amherst.  After hitting McNeal's car, Dunnigan's car crashed into a concrete curb before going airborne, landing on the glass dome of the station.

McNeal observed Dunnigan fall out of the vehicle after the crash occurred and running out of the station. Video footage shows him running up the escalator, leaving the scene of the accident.

McNeal was taken to ECMC for evaluation of minor injuries. Dunnigan was also treated by ECMC and shortly released.

Dunnigan's vehicle, hanging half inside the rail station, was lifted off the glass dome by a crane and then impounded, along with the the other vehicle.

Dunnigan was charged with leaving the scene of a personal-injury accident, reckless driving, speeding, failure to keep right and unsafe passing.

An investigation is ongoing.

Until the station reopens, there will be no Metro Rail service at that station.  The NFTA will provide shuttle service to and from the Delavan station from both the Humboldt Hospital and Utica stations.
