CLARENCE, N.Y. (WIVB) - An intersection in Clarence has a deadly and devastating history. Now, another collision is once again highlighting the dangers at County and Strickler Roads. Neighbors frustrations are mounting that nothing seems to be getting done to make it safer.

November 2009, a car carrying four teenagers goes through a stop sign on Strickler and County Roads, and strikes a mini van. All four passengers were killed.

In May 2011, a bus carrying a special needs student was hit by a driver who was speeding and did not stop at the stop sign at the same intersection. Luckily, no one was seriously hurt.

Sunday, two cars collided at the intersection. These are just a few of the accidents that has neighbors frustrated. Frank Nicotra is upset that this intersection isn’t the highest priority.

Nicotra said, “And then to find out that there was a light put on the corner of Greiner and Shimerville. And that speed limit's only 35 miles an hour. So we went through the whole expense of having a light put there, when this one was priority #1."

News 4 has confirmed changes are coming, just not as soon as residents would like.

“I don't know what we need or what it's going to take for somebody to recognize that this is something that needs to be done immediately,” Nicotra said.

In August, Erie County announced plans to install the traffic signal by the end of the year. News 4 has learned the light realistically won’t go up until spring, because the state just approved the design process and funding still has to be worked out.
