ALABAMA, N.Y. (WIVB) - A pick-up truck went up in flames moments after its driver rolled out of it Thursday morning, in the Town of Alabama.
First responders were called to Route 77 and Bloomingdale Road, where a pick-up truck slammed into the back of a garbage truck.
A Waste Management worker was outside of the garbage truck, and told the pick-up truck driver, 22-year-old Charles Scorzee, to get out of the vehicle because it was on fire. He rolled out of the vehicle and collapsed on a mailbox across the street, when the truck burst into flames.
It appears Scorzee was driving to the Tonawanda Reservation after working an overnight shift in Greece. Mercy Flight took him to the hospital with serious injuries.
The investigation into the crash continues.
