BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - A run in Delaware Park had another purpose, to help the fight to stop a disease that kills too many men.
About 700 people took part in the "Dash for Dad."
The 5K race supports "Project Zero," the project to end prostate cancer.
Every 18 minutes, a man dies from prostate cancer.
This is one of 14 similar races held across the country.
Race organizer Vanessa Mesler said, "The funds stay right here in Buffalo, and allow us to continue research, to raise awareness, and educate men and their families about prostate cancer screenings."
Skip Lockwood of "The Project to End Prostate Cancer" said, "This will be the nation's premier men's health activity within a short period of time."
By next summer, Project Zero hopes to expand the walk to 25 cities.
