LACKAWANNA, N.Y. (WIVB) - A judge has lifted the restraining order on the demolition of the Bethlehem Steel building, Wednesday. A city officials says the demolition can resume immediately.
Preservationists were hoping to save the building for good. The Campaign for Greater Buffalo sought the restraining order because no environmental impact study had been done on the Fuhrmann Boulevard site.
"We are going to run and we are going to see if we can outrun the bulldozers and outrun these wrecking balls," said Tim Tielman. "We think the citizens of Western New York need to have this important historic building saved. There's going to be no opportunity to do so if we do not get success with the appeal."
The campaign called the building, built in 1901, an important symbol of New York State history.
